Drawing inspiration from the political, religious and popular, Pedraza uses famous faces and commonplaces to question what constitutes a modern icon. With their flat surfaces and striking block colours, the paintings recall consumerist billboards, whilst the accompanying titles lend some irony to the otherwise deeply symbolic subject matter.
