Regina’s Regime

“Regina 11” is the pseudonym of Regina Betancourt de Liska, an atypical, multifaceted figure in Colombian popular culture. Although her name is almost always associated with witchcraft and superstition, her iconography and her performance acts have created a characteristic world of references that are as unusual as they are disparate. Her ideological potential and particular charisma led her to found the Metapolitical Unitarian Movement at the end of the seventies, becoming a worldwide pioneer in the political representation of women. Her television and public appearances are still remembered today as proof of the surreal nature of the tropics, where the avant-garde coexists with tragedy.
